Driver tracking

The mobile application is designed to track the drivers location while their shift is determined to be active. The location information is sent from the drivers mobile to the Crittah servers to allow operations to view all driver locations. Knowing the drivers location allows the operations team to assign jobs based on the closest driver or to see if the driver is on track for existing jobs.

When is a driver tracked

The following rules are used to determine if a shift is active or not and whether a drivers location is logged on the server :-

  • Any shift that is assigned to the driver and the current time is between the "start time" and "finish time" of that shift.
  • The drivers current shift is of a status of not completed and the current time of the shift is within the "start time" and "finish time + 1 hour" of that shift.

A drivers current shift is identified when the driver clicks on the start shift button in the mobile device or if the . The device then remembers this shift as the current shift.

Trouble shooting tracking

If the app is started and you do not move more than 150 meters (default distance of tracking changes) the device will not send the devices location to Crittah until you have moved more than 150 meters.

Check that location services have been enabled for Crittah

When you first install the Crittah app you would have been prompted by the iPhone when you opened that app. The message says "Crittah would like to use your current location". If they chose to "Don't Allow" then Crittah will not be able to send information regarding the devices location.

To check if this is turned on you need to navigate to click on the settings icon on the iPhone/iPad home screen and navigate to Privacy.

Under the privacy settings, tap on “Location Services”. In location services check the following:-
- Location Services are turned on at the top
- Search for the Crittah app in the list below and make sure the location services are turned on for the Crittah Application.

If location services were turned off then they need to restart the app:-
- Double click on the home button. This will then show all of the applications currently running on the device.
- Swipe to the left until you locate the Crittah app and swipe up to close the Crittah app.
- Click on the home button to return to the home screen and then re-open the Crittah app.
- Tracking will then be re-enabled
